Faraway Weddings News & Activities
This is not a reference to champagne but to our new bubble machine, which we acquired on the recent trip to the UK. We think this will be a great option for people who wish to add bubbles to certain times throughout the wedding day.
In addition to the improvements carried out earlier this year, we have now completed some further renovations to increase the practicality and also improve the aesthetics of the venue. Firstly, we have created a new floristry area to give more room for the team as they prepare all of the floral decorations. We have replaced the bar roof with a stylish wooden structure, which is an improvement on the clear poly carbonate roof we had before. And finally we have extended the function room to increase our internal dining capacity from 50 guests to 60 guests. All of these changes help to continuously improve our service and enhance any future weddings.
We have just completed our 5th consecutive year of exhibiting at both Earls Court in London and the NEC in Birmingham during the UK's biggest wedding exhibition. As usual it was great to meet so many of our current and future clients. We are very much looking forward to seeing you all again when you arrive on Samui for your weddings.
Our online wedding brochure has been updated with new images and information.
We have now had a chilled wine store built at our office which allows us to buy wines in advance and store them correctly before the wedding date.
In addition to the refurbishment of the bride's room, we have also made a major financial investment in buying a very large generator to ensure that, even during a lengthy power cut, the Faraway villa will be able to operate completely normally. The previous generator provided emergency back-up power only, whereas the new one can power absolutely everything required for the wedding day and reception to run smoothly.
The bride's room at the Faraway Villa has undergone a great transformation. New flooring, to match the function room, new lighting and new mirrors, together with the removal of some of the wardrobes, has resulted in a bright and modern salon space perfect for brides and bridesmaids to prepare for the wedding. Even the bride's bathroom has had a face-lift with new tiles and sink unit.
We are back from another extremely successful visit to the Uk to exhibit at The National Wedding Show. It was great to meet all of the people with appointments, it's always good to put a face to a name. We were also overwhelmed by the amount of new bookings and visitors who travelled long distances to meet us with or without appointments. We're very much looking forward to working with you all to plan your weddings in the future.
Some of the Faraway Team are heading off to the UK again to exhibit at the National Wedding Show at Earls Court in London and the NEC in Birmingham.
As part of our ongoing project at Bandonthup School in Lipa Noi, we have now paid for and installed a new "green" water system.
Now all rain water is captured and stored in underground tanks where a filtration and cooling system ensures that the water is safe and usable as drinking water for the children.
We also donated two computer systems to the school this month.
Faraway has once again expanded the staff and the company's capabilities by employing a full time sound engineer, florist and floristry assistant.
This month saw the Faraway team enjoy the annual staff party. It was a fun night with games, entertainment and prizes which kept everyone interested. We'd like to thank all of our partners and suppliers who donated gifts such as flat screen TVs, gold and cash. All of which were greatly appreciated.
We are very excited to have once again improved the Faraway Villa and increase its practicality as a wedding venue. The villa has been closed during May so that we could carry out some work and give the whole villa a little sprucing up. Every year we have experienced problems with the lawn area which is mostly used for outdoor dining. The volume of people using the garden, together with heavy wear and tear from tables, chairs and elephants tends to leave the garden looking a little bare and battered at times. Despite replacing the grass whenever we have time to do so, this has been a frustrating recurring problem. We have looked at a number of options to solve this issue, and we eventually decided to extend the bar terrace area across the whole beachfront part of the garden. The result is that we now have an incredibly attractive and much more practical area for beachfront dinner receptions. The surface is flat and clean and will not be affect by foot traffic, elephants or table and chair legs regardless of how many weddings we have. Our new stylish terrace creates a unique beachfront area which can be used for wedding ceremonies as well as dinner receptions and it also extends our dance floor and party area.
Following the phenomenal success of the Faraway Villa we decided it was time to really show people why this venue is such an amazingly popular choice. This new website really focuses on the advantages of a wedding here and it's a very visual website with lots of pictures to showcase the venue properly.
Once again we have been exhibiting at the National Wedding Shows at both Earls Court in London and the NEC in Birmingham. It has provided us with a great opportunity to meet with existing and potential new clients to discuss our services and answer questions face to face rather than the usual method of email.
Our Faraway Fashion wear and new honeymoon packages were received particularly well, in addition to our exciting new brochure, and we are already looking forward to the show again in 2012.

As part of the Jultamart Green Project, Faraway Weddings attended Bandonthup School in Lipa Noi. The visit was arranged to celebrate the opening of the school’s very own recycling plant which was constructed by the staff of Faraway Weddings and Montien House hotel.
It was an exceptional day with the children and their parents being given fun and educational environmental advice by Faraway and Montien House staff as well as from the teachers.
Prizes such as pens, notebooks, games, toys, sweets and crisps were provided by Faraway Weddings and used as prizes for the children to win during a number of high-energy and challenging games.
The purpose built recycling area was officially opened by the headmaster and a promise was made by him and all of the pupils that every effort will be made to ensure that the recycling is something which is a long term commitment.
Everyone from the Faraway team joined in the day and had a great time.

The most recent villa renovations include transforming the bride’s room from a bedroom into an en-suite changing room for the bridal party. There’s a new bathroom and hair and make-up stations allowing for several people to get ready at the same time. This makes the room a much more usable and practical preparation space.
The next alteration comes in the form of a flexible air-conditioned indoor function room with bar, which can seat up to 50 guests for dining and can be used to offer an alternative to a garden reception in times of rain or to escape the heat.
Plans are in place to add more toilets to the villa in May 2010 and in October a new bar will be created to improve the facilities further.
20nd January 2010

As part of our endeavour to give back to our community, the Faraway wedding team organised a temple clean up at Plai Laem, Koh Samui. This was an extremely rewarding and successful day for all of us as we concentrated on cleaning all areas to help clean and tidy the temple grounds. We were also assisted by some of our vendors and suppliers such as Kireewong Foto, Samui Channel, Krit Florist and the Pi Ta Thai Dance Company.
A substantial amount of good work was carried out by everyone including the removal of all rubbish, tidying the gardens and clearing the messy pathways, cutting and clearing the overgrown areas and communal areas of weeds and rubbish. We also rearranged the seating areas to allow better access and a more practical layout and removed the leftover building materials from the recent construction work.
To assist with the clean up, Faraway had made dustpans out of recycled materials - this was then which then donated to the temple along with many garden brooms.
This was the first project that we've carried out in this manner and now each month we're looking to find a project which will benefit the local community and the environment.
